Day 1 - Arrival Sandakan / Sepilok / Sun Bear / Kinabatangan (L / D)
Meet and greet services at Sandakan airport (suggested arrive at 0800am), transfer to Sepilok Jungle Resort (SJR). Unpack yourself, freshen up. Take a 5 mins. leisure walk to the nearby Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’ or ‘Man of the Jungle’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the forest. Watch the scheduled video show programme (25 mins) and visit to the Exhibition Hall. After Sepilok, proceed to Sun Bear Conservation Center to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural environment. Lunch en route at SJR. After lunch, by 1230hrs, we drive overland to Bilit, Kinabatangan River. Arrive at Bilit around 1430hrs, check into your accommodation. By 1530hrs, have an afternoon tea with some local bites. After a short briefing by the nature guide, take an afternoon cruise (4.00pm) along the Kinabatangan River (Sabah’s longest river at 560km) where you can observe wildlife on the boat itself. Dinner & overnight stay at Bilit Adventure Lodge.

Day 2 - Kinabatangan / Lahad Datu / Tabin Wildlife
After breakfast, depart Bilit by 0830 hrs and overland transfer to Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife office. Transferred by road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve (1330 hrs). Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, which comes complete with private balcony, air conditioner, ceiling fan and hot water shower, a welcome luxury in the forest. Nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad river, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort. Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments.
Visit to Trogon Hall gallery for information about the conservation of Tabin Wildlife Reserve and briefing on birds, insects and animals that is found in this area. (For guest check in before 11:00am)In the afternoon, visit the active Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife. After trekking through the rainforest for 20 minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. The adventurous can try the effects of the volcanic mud, said to be responsible for a fine complexion. Trek back to the resort along elephant trail.
After dinner, enjoy a CD/Slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear, dark sky of Tabin, identify the constellations above you and make a wish or two.
Day 3-Tabin Wildlife Reserve / Lahad Datu / Danum Valley (B / L / D)
After breakfast, free and easy until check out.
You may opt to take up a dawn drive or jungle walk to look out for wildlife that is active at this time of the day. Transfer back to Lahad Datu town.
Depart to Danum Valley Studies Centre (DVSC) overland for about 2 hrs for scheduled transfer available for every Monday, Wednesday and Friday or you may choose for chartered vehicle available every day from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs with additional charges.
Arrive at DVSC Reception Office. Be well informed that any activities etc. jungle trekking (with ranger), Night Drive and Night Walk are to be arranged at DVSC Reception Counter. To pay directly in Ringgit Malaysia cash to the Receptionist before check out.
Check-in at DVSC either hostel which is 15 minutes away from the Dining Hall or in the Rest house and Chalet located a few steps way to the Dining Hall. The Receptionist will brief you the Do’s and Don’ts while you are staying in DVSC.
Recover your exhaustion and have a buffer dinner at the Dining Hall.
2000 hrs - After dinner, take this opportunity to experience the Night Drive in search for the nocturnal wildlife. Possibility to sight wildlife is depending on your luck. (Optional activity & if weather permits) with additional charges. Overnight at Kawag Danum Valley.
Day 4 - Danum Valley (B / L /D)
Start your day with a self-service breakfast at the Dining Hall.
0800 hrs - Take a tour around the DVSC vicinity. A Nature Trail (self-guided) located few minutes away from the Dining Hall or you may also want to visit the Observation Tower and the DVSC Tree Platform with a Ranger’s service provided at a minimal cost. Not a miss to visit the Suspension Bridge which is next to the Reception Office. The Suspension Bridge is surrounded by the greenery, feeling serene to sight.
1230 hrs - After hours of jungle trekking, serve yourself with lunch at the Dining Hall.
1400 hrs - Jungle trekking continue to the Coffin Trail,an ancient burial site of the local tribespeople. A story spreads that the coffin is imbued with the spiritual belief that the higher you are buried, the closer you are to our creator. The Coffin Trail is about 1.7 KM or 2 hours walks fromthe Studies Centre. You may either choose to trek to Tembaling Waterfall which is located 4KM or about 2 hours walks with a Ranger (Optional with additional charges)
1900 hrs - Dinner served at the Dining Hall.
2000 hrs - Night Drive in an open air jeep with a spotter holding a spotlight to search the surrounding for any sight of wildlife’s eyes or you might choose for a Night Walk and experience the night ambiance at the pristine forest of Danum Valley. Get yourself prepared as the friendly tiger leech might greet you with their clingy specialty. Sighted of wildlife will all depends on your luck!(Optional activity & if weather permits & additional charges). Overnight at Kawag Danum Valley.
Day 5 - Danum Valley / Departure Day (B)
0615hrs - If you are keen birders, you might want to wake up early and spend your morning walk for birds sighting around DVSC, but make sure to have a binocular with you for good vision.
Don’t forget to have your breakfast at the Dining Hall before 0800Hrs.
0830 hrs - Check-out. Depart to Lahad Datu town or airport.
